Spain Wine Class February 2024
Spain Wine Class February 2024
Join us February 8, 2024 as we explore some of the lesser known corners of Spain. Chef Paul Kulik will present a look at the past and present of Spanish wine making through the lens of the lesser known region of Bierzo.
Bierzo is located up in the northwest corner of Castilla y León, near to where it turns into Galicia. The epicentre of the DO is a gentle valley stretching from Ponferrada in the southeast to Villafranca del Bierzo in the northwest. Mountains embrace the valley on all sides, forming a natural barrier between Galicia and Asturias to the north and the vast Castillian plains of the meseta norte to the south. Bierzo is a fascinating winemaking corner of Spain and one that's increasingly on wine lovers' maps as well as winemakers', particularly because of two varieties: the red variety Mencia, and the white grape Godello.
We will taste four wines from the Bierzo region:
Jose Antonio Garcia Bierzo Godello 2020
Descendientes Jose Palacios Corullon Bierzo 2021
Raul Perez La Vizcaina "La Del Vivo" Bierzo Blanco 2020
Raul Perez La Viscaina "Las Gundinas" Bierzo Tinto 2021
Class begins at 6:30 and goes to 7:30.
No snacks will be offered at this class. Stop in a little early and order some snacks or stay for dinner afterwords. Please make reservations in the restaurant if you wish to eat after. We look forward to sharing some of our favorite wines with you!
