Seghesio Barolo Castelletto 2020
Seghesio Barolo Castelletto 2020
The steep slopes of the Fratelli Seghesio winery in Monforte d’Alba were not always carpeted in vines. It wasn’t until 1964 when Ettore Seghesio, a tenant farmer working the land, saved enough money to purchase the farm from its owners and had the foresight to plant vineyards of Nebbiolo. For many years, the family’s grapes were sold off in bulk to other producers in the region. In 1988, Ettore’s sons, Aldo and Riccardo, took over the family estate and began bottling wine under the Fratelli Seghesio label.
Riccardo is now at the helm of the estate after Aldo’s sudden passing in 2010. In addition, Aldo’s two sons, Sandro and Marco, and his daughter, Michela, now work full time at the estate. Established with a vision to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of Monforte, the Fratelli Seghesio family continues to meticulously tend to their vineyards while dedicating themselves to preserving the winemaking legacy that’s evident in every bottle they produce: timeless tradition and uncompromising quality personified.
The wines of Fratelli Seghesio are a testament to the family’s commitment to excellence and passion for crafting exceptional wines. From their flagship Barolo bottlings to the elegant Barbera and Dolcetto, each bottle encapsulates the spirit of Monforte d’Alba, showcasing the deep expression of fruit-meets-terroir that defines this esteemed winegrowing region. This is truly a family operation steeped in tradition.

wine from Seghesio. Dried herbs, sage, lavender,
menthol, licorice, mocha and pine are some of
the many notes that develop with a bit of time
in the glass. There’s gorgeous complexity and
uncommon character here. This vivid, dynamic
red is quite the overachiever. Best of all, the 2020
can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. It’s an
exquisite Barolo in every way.”
