L'Aventure Cote a Cote 2018
L'Aventure Cote a Cote 2018
"A classical Rhône blend, with an earthiness and unfussy power that gives character and impact. This is lightly spiced with fresh acidities from the hill breezes of the Santa Rosa mountains, sculpted and lifted with graphite and slate on the finish. Generous dried fruit character comes in as the wine opens in the glass, bringing in fig, cocoa bean and ripe berry fruits with saffron and rosemary spice. Drinking Window 2022 - 2038"-Decanter(JA)
The Côte à Côte blend is made up of predominately Grenache, as well as Mourvèdre and Syrah and entirely estate-grown fruit from L'Aventure Vineyard. The hilly soils are intriguingly complex- due to their proximity to the ocean as the vineyard site is in West Paso Robles. The soils have a top layer of calcareous shale, filled with old marine bones, shells, diatoms, and plankton, with clay, metals, and quartz below. The wine is aged in 30% new French oak, 28% 1-year-old French oak, 33% concrete tank, and 9% amphora for 14 months with no fining or filtration. *biodynamic*
